These days, more and more portable power stations are offering UPS or EPS backup protection modes to offer backup power to critical pieces of equipment during power failures. Each external battery has the same capacity as the base 2000 Plus unit, and as of this writing, you can link up to five additional batteries to the main unit for a staggering 12,256.8Wh - additionally you can still combine two sets of the six-piece combos together for that 240-volt capability and an even larger capacity of 24,513.6Wh.įor these reasons and more, the Jackery 2000 Plus is our best large and best overall portable power station. For now, the 2000 Plus is the only unit that will accept these batteries, but we can assume more are to follow. Similarly, Jackery has thrown in on the modular game by offering external expansion batteries. We have seen this from a few other manufacturers, but I'm happy to see Jackery in on this early in the game. What's more, if you'd like to pick up two of these baddies, you can also use the new Jackery expansion connector to connect both units and supply yourself with two separate 240-volt outlets (each rated 30A). You will also notice the inclusion of a round RV-type AC output rated at 25A. The standard specs and performance are similar at a glance, but coming in at around 20 pounds heavier, the 2000 Plus is built for more.įirst and foremost, with the added weight also comes a telescoping handle and durable wheels. We have the Jackery Explorer 2000 Pro for example, at first glance I thought the Jackery Explorer 2000 Plus might be some level of incremental update to the 2000 Pro, but no, this is a decidedly different product. Jackery has been busy with new releases this year, and for some, it might be easy to get confused by its naming system. The traffic direction into the lot was fine. The parking lot itself is awful and stretches the limits of what can be called a gravel lot, because these stones were enormous, and actually ended up causing some damage to my wheel and tire, which I am sure would not be compensated for at all. We ran into someone else on the way in with a similar experience. A buddy of mine had warnings of his transmission overheating several times going up the hill, and someone two cars ahead of me had to pull over because his clutch began smoking. Be prepared to come incredibly early for large concerts, as the steep uphill climb of poorly managed traffic that will go no faster than 5mph at best will be torture on your clutch or transmission. I saw a concert here recently and from the beginning things were pretty terrible. Healthy police presence after the concert which was helpful because we went out a different way than we went in and they steered us in the right direction to our parking lot.So make sure you leave the same way you come in or you are in for a walk to your parking lot. We did see a couple people jump the barrier and get into the pit while the usher was distracted. I was sitting in the section right behind the pit and the ushers were doing a good job checking tickets and making sure people were not seat jumping. As far as security goes, I would say it was adequate compared to other venues. My wife and I have been to about 20 Metal concerts in the last 3 years without seeing any fights or people so drunk they couldn't function. Some of the other reviews mentioned severely drunk people. Again, get there early and plan on hanging out for an hour after the concert and you shouldn't have any issues. We knew leaving would be tough so we broke out the grill and cooked a late dinner in the parking lot. So if possible get there when the parking lots open. We tailgated until 430 and walked right in and through security with no issues. The lot opened at 1:50 and we drove right in and parked right next to the VIP parking. After reading about the parking nightmares, I was in line to park at 130. The show started at 530 and parking lots opened at 2. I will probably never go to another event here again based on this experience.Īfter reading the recent reviews I expected the worst. Well, another hour and a half later, we finally reached the exit. When the show was over, we walked back to the lot and decided for our own safety we would wait to leave until a bulk of the lot emptied out. Only one fight while in the pit, thankfully it was far behind us and I will say the staff was very quick to jump in and handle it to keep people safe. I was quite honestly terrified of what would encounter on the road after the event. What made it worse was that the "beer server" came around and kept serving them. The crowd was a mess, beer cups everywhere on the floor. You are so close to the artists, it makes for an awesome experience. We finally got the the pit area, and I will say, if you can afford the tickets, do it. We had pit tickets, so we then had to wait in yet another line to get a bracelet to wear into the pit. Once we were in, I was surprised that some of these highly drunk people were being served drinks. This didn't take long, but mostly because it took so long to get in the lot, that we had already missed the first two opening acts. Once you finally climb half a mountain through a very badly lit woodsy area surrounded by stumbling drunks, you reach the security gate. Granted, they made their choices, but there was no security in the parking lot, and I'm sure the police on site were overwhelmed to say the least. They couldn't walk, couldn't stand up, it was like we were in the Twilight Zone. Tents, RV's, grills, coolers, and left a mess everywhere. Once we got in, I thought we entered woodstock-there were drunk, sloppy people everywhere. It took us 2 hours to even access the parking lot from the road to the venue. I assumed this meant quick/easy access to the show (Jason Aldean/Kane Brown). I paid $50 for VIP parking for the event. With that said, there is a lot of negative that unfortunately doesn't make up for it. Right smack in the middle of the woods, and all you will hear is the music. Let me start by saying that the venue itself is beautiful. There may be a modification of this rule set that allows for a small time increment each time that a player makes a move. However, they must not have less than 3 minutes to do so. A Quick Introduction To Blitz Chessīlitz chess is defined by general agreement as a game of chess in which each player is given 10 minutes or less on the clock to play all of their moves. There are others which we will not concern ourselves with here (though we touched on the differences between blitz chess and bullet chess in detail in this article here). OK, so blitz chess and rapid chess are two different variants of speed chess. Note: we will return to this subject by the end of the article and demonstrate that playing fast chess doesn’t need to make you a worse chess player. I would caution against abandoning “slow chess” in favor of playing “fast chess” unless you want to see your ratings tank, in fact, we wrote a whole article about the downsides of playing speed chess here. Many a chess player finds themselves drawn to the dark side of fast chess because there is an immediate payoff. The joy and exhilaration of quickly played chess games that result in wins and losses far more often that they do in draws can be very seductive. Speed chess can become addictive, however. The Potential For “Addiction” To Speed Chess There’s a lot of joy to this original slow kind of chess too but there are times when it’s completely impractical and if you want to squeeze a game in during a lunch hour or with a friend after work – then speed chess is often a much better option if you want to ensure an outcome on the board the same day. Of course, the fine art of chess is in “slow chess” in which two titans of the board battle things out slowly using all their thinking power to create the best positions. for as long as people have been playing chess. People have been playing speed chess and all the different variants such as blitz, bullet, rapid, lightning, Armageddon, etc. that they are not familiar with will make it much harder for them to play well against you. This is usually not because they have come into a fountain of new knowledge but because they exploit the obvious weakness in speed chess: if players aren’t given much thinking time, then using unusual openings, etc. Sometimes, players of a lower rank will appear to shine in speed chess games when taking on better ranked opposition. The time limits are applied in such a way that they reduce the player’s optimum thinking time and require them to know more about the game than they might otherwise know. Speed chess or “fast chess” is the term used for any game of chess in which both players are put under immense time pressure. So, what are you waiting for? The word is a stonemason's term borrowed in Middle English from French verbs connoting a "turn" (OED). An enlarged and sometimes slightly dropped keystone is often found in Mannerist arches of the 16th century, beginning with the works of Giulio Romano, who also began the fashion for using voussoirs above rectangular openings, rather than a lintel (Palazzo Stati Maccarani, Rome, circa 1522). The springer is the lowest voussoir on each side, located where the curve of the arch springs from the vertical support or abutment of the wall or pier. The keystone is often decorated or enlarged. The keystone is the centre stone or masonry unit at the apex of an arch. Inside are a well-preserved reading lectern and a riot of carved beasts and faces. The choir and presbytery, built around 1270, show the influence of regional trends, but have a distinctive style unique to Elgin.Īn octagonal chapter house dates from the late 1200s. Much of the nave is reduced to foundations, but the rest stands remarkably complete. One of Elgin’s former bishops, Alexander Bur (1362–97) boasted that his cathedral was “the ornament of the realm, the glory of the kingdom”. After the Reformation, it was used only sometimes for Catholic worship. Before the time of Bishop Brice of Douglas (1203–22), it moved between Kinneddar, Birnie and Spynie.īishop Brice chose Spynie (2 miles north) as the permanent location for his cathedral, but it moved to Elgin around 1224. But the bishop’s ‘cathedra’ (seat) wasn’t always at Elgin. The cathedral was the spiritual heart of the diocese of Moray. A fine collection of architectural fragments hints at the building’s lost beauty, while documentary evidence sheds light on religious life at Elgin. The cathedral was once richly carved and adorned with stained glass and painted decoration. Even as a ruin, the cathedral still boasts plenty of detail that tells of its development and embellishment. Work began on the cathedral in the first half of the 1200s, but it is the product of three main building phases. It continued to do so even after its demise at the Protestant Reformation of 1560. The monumentally impressive building dominated the flat and fertile Laich of Moray from the time it was built. Elgin Cathedral, known as the ‘Lantern of the North’, is one of Scotland’s most beautiful medieval cathedrals. They will lose people because of this and some permanently who will not return as some are taking their first break away from LA. The post won't age well as you said because those MMO's won't "fall" but it's not fully off the mark. LA wasn't his "cherry" but it was an MMO for a guy who I'd say didn't like MMO's. That said, my friend obsessed with LA will continue to play it, because he never liked any MMO before including WoW although he did try. But nobody is expecting to play LA again. We will get burned out on WoW as always, and may even go back to FF. The reality is, I and my friends will likely not return to LA after we get tired of Dragonflight but move on to other titles until the next WoW expansion. These are all people I know from real life too, not met in MMO's or other games. Reminds me of the Wrath/Cata days and almost the same volume of return legion had. I was the first a few months back, but I can't believe how full my bnet has become considering everyone is in WoW not OW2. Everyone except for him has come back to WoW leveling alts for Dragonflight. I only have an anecdote to give but I am down to one friend still playing Lost Ark. I loved the combat, the animations, the design of the classes and the dungeons, and maybe I give it another chance in the future, but for now I would rather play something else that is more focused on story, less grindy and more focused on horizontal progression. Although the game is huge, only a small portion of content is actually relevant at a time. The basic loop is: grind the content -> try to upgrade you gear and fail -> grind lots more until you can finally upgrade -> move to the next content and forget the previous content ever existed -> restart the loop. Second reason is because I found that the progression in this game is "too vertical" for me and very focused on grind. I can't speak for other players, but I will explain why I stopped playing.įirst reason is too much time spent doing boring stuff like Unas tasks, story quests that were designed with low effort, rapports and more. It still needs more fleshing out, but the world is beautiful and fun in my opinion. Tl dr New World is actually a great game. Same with PVP, but that'd be faster than crafting. It will be slower than dungeon grinding, but you can do it. You can hit max gear score by just sitting around and crafting if you want. The end game grind is there, but they really do reward you properly for doing what you want. I am a returning player myself and after hitting 60 earlier this week I have been thoroughly enjoying logging in everyday. It will be much much easier and more enjoyable to level up once that is in. When the update happens (Oct 18th) it is including a revamped new player experience. There are tons of returning players at the moment because of the Brimstone Sands update coming (free content) and they are releasing Fresh Start serves on Nov 2nd. PVP as well.įor the price point it is worth checking out because you don't have to worry about maintaining a sub. The boss battles are really fun in dungeons and thats where the combat shines. The combat is fun, but not very deep, especially fighting normal enemies. IF YOU SEND A MESSAGE TO THE MODS ABOUT A POST YOU MADE INCLUDE A LINK TO THAT POST. Industrial Rivet’s extensive manufacturing network means the company can design, manufacture, and engineer custom and ready-made products for a global customer and distribution base. “We’re continually assessing what’s the ideal rivet for a certain application and what’s the most efficient way that we can manufacture it.” “We, of course, still offer many types of rivets but we also put a strong focus on our engineering capabilities to help customers solve their problems - and their customers’ problems,” she shares. Goodman says one of their goals was to go from being a one-stop supermarket of rivets to one that also provided engineered solutions. To provide the correct rivet and installation instructions for multiple applications, the team at Industrial Rivet must be extremely knowledgeable. If you have to take it out for some reason, the rivet is damaged - and, potentially, so is the application it was holding together.” When you set a rivet, you’re changing the shape of it and it’s meant to set permanently. “It’s not like with a nut and a bolt, where you can re-install the components by unfastening and re-fastening. But, as Goodman points out, they also have to function correctly. Much like other fasteners, rivets have to fit the application correctly. “Most rivet companies offered only one type of rivet but we manufactured and sold several different types, so we became true experts in permanent mechanical fastening.” “In our parents’ generation, the company was well-known as the ‘supermarket of rivets,’” she says. Still, she wanted to take things to the “next level.” From left to right: Joanne Sherman, Bill Goodman, Allen Goodman, Steven Shermanīut Goodman was a quick study and was impressed with how the business was run. The team at Industrial Rivet & Fastener Co. “Although, I admit I didn’t have all that much fastener knowledge coming into the job, which was somewhat surprising given I had grown up with the company.” In 2012, she officially joined Industrial Rivet & Fastener Co. I felt something was missing.”Įventually, Goodman approached her family for advice. We’d advise all of these companies because that’s what you do in investment banking, but I never really got to see it through or learn the final results. I enjoyed it but knew it wasn’t what I wanted to do forever. “I was able to experience two different company cultures and practices and watch them merge as one. Barclays kept me on and I learned a lot in just a couple of years,” she says. Two months into her new career, however, the finance company was near collapse thanks to the recession and was bought by the investment firm, Barclays Capital. They even offered me a full-time job when I graduated,” she says. “On a whim, I applied for a job in finance during my junior summer of college and got an internship at Lehman Brothers in New York City, which I loved. She planned to become a doctor until fainting while watching a surgery during her undergrad - hence, the MBA. She went to Williams College, earning undergraduate degrees in biology and economics, and later an MBA at Wharton at the University of Pennsylvania. She occasionally chipped in, filing and doing data entry work, but never expected to make it a career. Industrial Rivet was not on Goodman’s radar in her youth. “Working here was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.” “So, it’s essentially three of us at the helm right now and we’re really an amazing team who all work well together,” she says. The two had taken over the business from their father (who still works in accounts receivable at age 90, sharing an office with Goodman), which is now headquartered in New Jersey. Bill co-owned the company with his sister (Sherman’s mom) until she sadly passed away in 2016. “That includes me and my cousin, Steven Sherman, who’s the company vice president and head of R&D and Engineering.” “We’re currently a fourth-generation, family-owned business,” shares Taryn Goodman, VP of finance, though she also handles the marketing and administrative responsibilities. Willie also likely never expected his great-grandchildren to join the company, now known as Industrial Rivet & Fastener Co. Today, his company offers more than 1.4 billion pieces of high-quality rivets, in addition to automated riveting tools, delivery systems, and other related services. He was simply offered an opportunity to sell rivets in New York City and grew to become an expert in riveting. in 1912, he likely never expected the company to last more than 100 years or to maintain one of the industry’s largest inventories. When Taryn Goodman’s great grandfather (Willie Goodman) founded Industrial Rivet & Washer Co. She’s also a volunteer director with Women in the Fastener Industry or WIFI, which provides opportunities for women in the industry to connect, network, and learn from one another.
