That guy saved my day, and I would like to share that this solution worked equally well on my EliteBook Folio 9470m, for anyone else looking to flash their BIOS on an older HP. I did need to install WINE, in order to be able to extract all the different files in the sp81423.exe provided by HP.īesides adhering exactly to the folder structure, the final key (as he states in his reply a bit down on the page) is RENAMING the BIN and SIG files after the chip number to be flashed. In the case of EliteBook Folio 9470m the two files need to be renamed 68IBD.bin and 68IBD.sig (the same as the BIOS-chip). It simply follows the instructions provided in the BIOS at startup, on the folder and file structure necessary. When HP believes you are on linux, they show you an older BIOS-update, but if you manually choose Windows as your OS, you are allowed to download the latest BIOS, a package called sp81423.exe. I am an UBUNTU-newbie, without any windows but realized I wanted to flash my BIOS.
